In 1926, the federal government acted to create a continuous paved highway from Chicago to Los Angeles…thus Route 66 was born. Much has changed since then, but 80 years later this famous highway still meanders through the heart of Joplin and you can find old and new fun things to do all along the way..

No trip is complete without a little something to take back home. Joplin offers big city selection without all of the traffic and parking headaches…and it’s all at affordable prices. Here are some places to check out:

This facility is home to more than 90 specialty shops, anchored by JCPenney, Sears, TJ Maxx and Macy’s. The Route 66 themed food court features eight dining options, in addition to the four casual dining restaurants on property. Located at 3rd and Range Line Road, call 417-781-2121 or www.VisitNorthparkMall.com for more information.
Located east of 4th and Range Line Road, this exciting new $60 million dollar development features a Kohl’s department store, Dress Barn, Michael’s, Kirkland’s and Bed, Bath and Beyond.
This rejuvenated area continues to offer quality shopping and services for all visitors. Among the many stores downtown on Main Street are the Upstairs Boutique (417-781-6581), Spokes & Spandex Bike Shop (417-206-7765), a day spa and several personal grooming services.
